GEMS is a leading-edge Enterprise Decision Support system (EDSS) designed to effectively link  multiple disparate and often legacy systems into an organized Data Warehouse. The Data Warehouse is comprised of integrated DataMarts designed around the customer’s business or organizational segments. It is a data driven, object-oriented system that is fully configurable and modifiable. GEMS uses an automated ODBC “Scheduling Data Consolidation Engine” to extract, cleanse, summarize, and restructure the data into meaningful information. GEMS applies OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing) technology to present this integrated information through the use of summarization structures, high quality business graphics, and a robust set of decision support tools.

All GEMS implementations are comprised of an easy-to-use GUI that presents information in easy-to-understand formats, allowing decision makers to:

GEMS Presentation Portfolio®: This module provides the capability to select any subset of GEMS charts and arrange them in any order. This portfolio can be saved and effectively used to “can presentations” which always access the most current data. Microsoft PowerPoint slides, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and multi-media can be incorporated into this portfolio. 

GEMS Summarization Browser®: This component allows users to build and maintain the summarization structures (Work Breakdown Structures, Organizational Breakdown Structures, Cost Account Structures) and other key data elements and codes that are used to integrate and summarize the data. The information can be viewed at any level. 

GEMS Navigator®: This data driven module guides the user through the system. Custom user interfaces can be defined and rapidly implemented so that users can easily jump to any specific area of interest. 

GEMS Security®: The security module provides the system administrator with the capability and flexibility to assign and maintain permissions to all or any part of the system for individuals or groups. 

GEMS Mining®: This is the automated data update process that extracts, cleanses, summarizes, restructures, and integrates data from multiple sources into an organized multi-dimensional data warehouse. It is typical for this process to be automatically executed on a nightly basis. 

GEMS Query®: GEMS Query is a reporting tool that allows the user to perform ad-hoc queries on the data warehouse. This feature is extremely useful to analyze “what-if” scenarios and to request specific data from multiple systems. 

GEMS Proposal®: The GEMS proposal module provides specific support tools while drawing on the features of the other GEMS modules to integrate proposal planning, development, and management.
